欧仁·德拉克洛瓦(Eugène Delacroix),是19世纪法国浪漫主义画派代表画家,1798年生于沙朗通-圣莫里斯,1863年逝世于法国巴黎。德拉克洛瓦是法国古典主义画派奠基人雅克·路易·大卫(Jacques-Louis David,1748—1825)的学生。

德拉克洛瓦对尼德兰画家彼得·保罗·鲁本斯的强烈色彩的绘画极为推崇,并受到同时代画家席里柯的影响,热衷于发展色彩的作用,成为浪漫主义画派的代表画家,被称为“浪漫主义的狮子”。

德拉克洛瓦对之后的印象派画家和梵·高的画风都有很大的影响。他的著名画作“自由领导人民”是对浪漫主义作家维克多·雨果的名作《悲惨世界》的呼应,这幅画曾被印入法国政府发行的100法郎的钞票和1980年的邮票上。

据说印象派画家从他的作品《十字军占领君士坦丁堡》前景的女人背部色彩运用上得益不少。德拉克洛瓦初期的作品《希阿岛的屠杀》曾被古典主义画家让·巴蒂斯·卡米尔·柯罗惊呼为是“色彩的屠杀!”。

德拉克洛瓦曾经为波兰音乐家肖邦画了著名的肖像,还曾经访问过阿尔及利亚和非洲,创作了大量异国风情的作品,甚至潜入伊斯兰教徒的清真寺搜集素材。

1863年8月13日德拉克洛瓦在巴黎去世,埋葬于拉雪兹神父公墓。德拉克罗瓦是法国人民的骄傲,为后世留下一部记有对色彩学深入研究的德拉克罗瓦日记。现在德拉克洛瓦的大部分作品都被保存在巴黎卢浮宫博物馆,卢浮宫专为保存他的作品辟出好几间展室。
